A jury convicted appellant of aggravated robbery and assessed punishment at forty-eight years confinement. The Dallas Court of Appeals affirmed the conviction in an unpublished opinion. Garrison v. State, No. 05-83-01350-CR (delivered December 18, 1984). We granted appellants petition for discretionary review in which he challenges the Court of Appeals holding that probable cause existed for his warrantless arrest and that, therefore, his confession was properly admitted as the fruit of a lawful arrest. Appellant also contends that the courts charge to the jury at the guilt-innocence stage of trial is fundamentally defective because of an improper definition of "knife." We granted his petition to address both issues.
